Reporter sentenced to eight years...

An Iranian reporter, Reza Saberi was sentenced to eight years for being an 'American Spy'; the young girl is said to be in the fifth day of her huger strike, and her father is worried for her health.

America's president and the Saberi family have asserted that Reza was no spy but Tehran police are not hearing any of it. I cannot begin to imagine what the family must be going through, with their daughter jailed in an foreign country for something as big as being as a traitor...Iranian president, Mr Ahmadinejad also added that he was "sure that she is not being mistreated" in prison in Tehran, but is not intervening in her arrest.

Ms Saberi was tried and sentenced behind close doors last week by the Revolutionary Court in Tehran. She was jailed for eight years on charges of being an American spy.

Her father says her appeal against the sentence could be heard as early as next week...

My sympathies for the family...I think it is outrageous that the Iranian President refuses to intervene in this case.
